SUMMARY:Potted vegetables grow easilyTRANSP:OPAQUE
URL:http://cotosaga.com/event/1638919DESCRIPTION:Whether you only have a garden or a balcony, there are plenty of vegetables to grow in POTS. So even if you don't have a garden, you can harvest a range of delicious vegetables from your outdoor space. Many supermarkets sell Seeds and compost, so you can choose when you buy vegetables, or order them online from a seed company such as Mr Fothergill's, Thompson & Morgan, and Kings Seeds. Which one? Garden magazines experiment with vegetable varieties to help you find the best ones. We also have advice from vegetable expert Charles Dowding in each issue. The trial Which? Gardening magazine for £5, subscribe online or call 029 2267 0000. In general, the bigger the container, the bigger the crop. Choose POTS with a minimum capacity of 10 litres --20 litres is better, but these POTS will cost more, take up more space and weigh more. Even the smallest pot dries quickly and you spend all your time watering it. Plastic flowerpots are usually the cheapest option, and they are light and strong. However, they may not seem the most attractive. Terracotta POTS are well insulated and breathable, but may dry out more quickly, especially in smaller sizes. Be creative with your container choices. There may be items around your outer space that you can reuse, such as an old tub, bucket, or recycling bin. Just make sure you add some drain holes. Growing bags are another option - they are cheap to buy and easy to use, but you need to keep watering them. Learn about our Best Buy growing bags using quality compost is essential when growing in containers. Choose our Best Buy compost for garden planters.
Taking care of crops in your plant container requires more feeding than crops on the ground. When you grow in containers, add controlled-release fertilizer to the compost. Alternatively, feed it with liquid fertilizer or tomato feed. You need to water carefully -- make sure your POTS don't dry out. Place your dish in a sunny place.
